We need to dedicate ourselves to having not just a good season, but a great season. I made the mistake over the past couple of years of saying we should be great this coming year and the next simply because we would be stacked with players who have played at the varsity level since they were freshmen and sophomores.
The fact of the matter is that the only way that we will be great is if we work to be great. It won't just happen because you are a year older. Everyone should be hitting the wall everyday for at least thirty minutes, practicing shooting, practicing dodging, and doing whatever else it will take to sharpen your stick skills. Everyone should be making every single practice that they possibly can. We are only practicing twice a week right now.
Our practices are mandatory for everyone who doesn't have another sport event, school event, or church event that is in direct conflict with our practice time. I know that there are other family functions, hunting trips, trips to see college football games, and other things that happen in the fall and that is understandable. But if you are in town, you are expected to be at practice. You need to commit to being excellent this year both as individuals and as a team. Otherwise we will just be another mediocre team that's a year older.
